What Winston's without controversy

So we had a little drama before the show. I've been doing a comedy show once a month or so at a bar near Winston's. It's always kinda rough, but it's stage time and I enjoy the challenge. Well I see on Facebook they are putting on a show last night, in direct competition with our show. I mean they didn't steal any comics from our show, or take any of our potention audience members, but it's just direspectful and not how things should be done. I guess it was a last minute one time thing, but either way it didn't sit well with me or the guy I run Winston's with. One of the most awkward comedians in the San Diego scene was on the other show. He was at Winston's first and came up to me telling me he would have to leave at 7. He knew he wouldn't be on by then, and I kind of got the vibe he was trying to brag or something. I just said you won't be on by then and crossed out his name.

I talk about it every week, but god there's so many weird comics. It's like you have to have no sense of reality to be a comic. It's not even having ego's or being awkward. Most of them have no clue how to hold a conversation. Don't get me wrong I'm not the life of the party, but I can hold a conversation. I don't know if people feel intimidated by me (not saying they should or think they are) but so many have all this energy on stage and off they are trapped in a shell. I am in no way a happy man, but I can at least fake it somewhat and chat with folks.

My set was meh. I've been writing a lot of new jokes that I am happy with. The crowd was kind of tight and dumb. This seems to be a lot of crowds but this one in particular was terrible. I kept fighting and managed to do at least 8 minutes. I had some friends at the show, so felt a little added pressure. I don't think they laughed much, and they didn't say anything other than, "it was tough." I wish people would lie to me at least. But it's tough when I can see their faces and can hear their laughs. Either way, I like my jokes, and am happy more is coming.

I was suppose to do a show in L.A. tonight, but cancelled cuz my friend had an extra ticket to the Chargers game. I've never been, and didn't enjoy my last experience with the L.A. show. It's a little bit of a drive for maybe 5 minutes. Poker's been a roller coaster this week. Lost 10$, then made 85$, then lost 175$, then played late night for about 4 hours and made 350$. Profit of 250$. I'm still undecided if I''m gonna go to Vegas tomorrow. Lady stuff. Eh, it's weird I get the same vibe with the last lady. I don't really even think she likes me. Who knows, just gonna take it slow and see what happens.
