Comedy Store madness
Sunday was work/ perform at the Store. I went up second. They were a small, yet supportive crowd. I opened with some dumbed down, easy jokes. I think it went ok, no real issues.
Monday I hosted the Store open mic. It was somewhat fun. I get to drink for free, but don't get paid. I played off most of the comics sets, and chatted with the crowd. I think it was an overall fun show. I don't mind hosting every once in awhile, but I get enough hosting with Winston's.
Tuesday was a benefit show at the Store. Before the show some of the comics were discussing who were some of the best comics in San Diego. I hate this convo, and being around it. There is one clear favorite and then there is everyone else. It pisses me off that no one ever gives me any respect. It's crazy how few shows I get asked to be on, and how I manage to get laughs at some of the hardest venues and toughest spots. Some people have these high praise for some comics, but those guys don't do open mics. They are always performing at prime venues, in great time slots. Anyone can be funny at those times. I got slightly worked up, but oh well.
I was a little out of it during my set. I chatted with the crowd a little too much, and almost let things get out of hand. My set was meh. Tried some jokes, and it was decent. Two comics after me some of the crowd had to be asked to leave. The guy was wasted and being a huge douche. Some people just don't know how to act in public. he left his card at the club just to prove a point to not sign the bill.
