Solid set.. wish I had more time

It's amazing how much faster time goes by when you're doing well on stage. On Wednesday things were rough and it felt like an eternity to stretch it to 7 minutes. Last night I did 8 minutes to the biggest crowd I've performed for, nearly 200. All of which have probably never seen me before nor did I know them. I didn't really know what jokes I was going to do when I got on stage but did my standard jokes that do well. I'm starting to feel like it's ok that I do that on occasion, esp. for crowds that have never seen me. I would still like to have a new 30 minutes from what I did last time if I headline Winston's again. I estimate I have about 12 or so right now. I'm hoping to have a new 30 by my birthday on June 24, and headline the show right around there.

Anyways my set went well. I still have the problem of stepping on the laughs. I just feel with so little time I need to pack in as many laughs as I can. But it's good to just let them laugh and then enjoy the next joke. I'll find my way.

The headliner guy was pretty good. You can tell he's been doing it awhile. He started with crowd work. I'd like to start doing that more, but when you're only given 8 to 10 minutes that makes it tough. Anyways I was talking to him before he went up. He has a lot of credits and has worked with Jaime Kennedy. He wasn't real happy with only doing 20 minutes and there being so many comics. He is used to do shows with 3, maybe 4 comics. Also the booker of the show told him there was only going to be 6 or so comics, and there ended up being about 12. I understand where he was coming from. The show went almost 2 1/2 hours and that's way too long. The crowd was pretty solid throughout, but still there was some comics that weren't really needed. There was one dude there that doesn't care much for my comedy, plus has always been kind of a douche to me, and he didn't do real well. Can't say a part of me wasn't happy to see that. He pretty much just left after his set. It all goes back to ego's. There just not needed. Like the headliner dude travels all over, and still invited us to hang out with him after. Granted he was wasted, but he definately seemed like a solid enough guy.
