Losing motivation... and money

Well maybe I was doing too many shows (upwards of 6 a week for a little while) or I'm just not that motivated to perform anymore. I really want to try getting new material. It's kind of pathetic that since my headlining spot on Nov. 6, over 3 months ago, I have barely 5 minutes of jokes that I rotate in normally. I realize a lot of comics don't just kick out new joke after new joke, but writing new jokes keeps me motivated.

I had a show Tuesday. Well I went to a place to tell jokes anyways. I was suppose to be at one spot but wasn't real interested in going. So me and a couple other comics went to a tiny bar to tell jokes. I went up first and did about 2 minutes. I just had no desire to try to win off a crowd that just heard cover music. One other dude went up after me that has some thinkish jokes and didn't do that great either. Then a lady comic went up and did really well. She's done about 15 shows, so I was kind of shocked how well she did. She has mostly dick and blue jokes, which the crowd loved. People came up to her after and told her to come back. i was happy for her, but at the same time frustrated to think that people are such fans of those jokes. It's like people don't want to have to think. We're not in 8th grade anymore, 69 is just a number.

I then had a show last night. I wasn't going into it thinking it was going to be a great show. I didn't really tell people about it as it was about 30 minutes south. It was basically in Mexico and the crowd was mostly Mexicans. I wouldn't say they were an easy crowd. As in when the guy introduced me that cheered lightly. I went right into my strong material and felt I did really well. I mean I didn't get to try any newer jokes, and it was mostly my blue material, but the laughs felt good. The show was run really comic friendly. He comped us some food and even had beers in the back for the comics. I thanked him a lot and hopefully I'll be invited back.

Well about losing money. Got home after the crappy show, logged online to play some online poker. Played like an idiot and ended up losing 600$. So thought I was over those days. I figured I'm owed at least one day of playing like a jackass and getting lucky, but nope.
