Well Sunday had a double header of shows. I was on the open mic at the Comedy Store. 3 minutes is a breeze. I did basically all new jokes, some said for the first time. The crowd was pretty big and responsive so I was a little nervous. It's been awhile since I felt the nerves I was feeling before I got up there. I think it was more a rush. It's crazy to think I did basically 10 new minutes every time I got on stage when I started. The jokes went pretty well. They still need work and my comfort and timing needs help, but I'm happy I'm writing again.
After the Store I went to the Blarney Stone. I figured there weren't going to be many comics as most of them that usually go were at another show. I got there and it was just me and 3 others. I went up 3rd, the first couple guys struggled a little. It's funny cuz one of the guys that went up was also at the Store. He did basically the same jokes, one which absolutely killed at the store, and pretty much got silence at Blarney. Bars are very rough. Anyways I got up there and talked to each individual table. I was happy with the outcome. I chatted with some gal that was at the show last week after. She bought me a drink, and called me her "dork fantasy." She's kind of cute nothing amazing. She said I was funny which was nice. A girl also looked me up on facebook saying she saw me at a show awhile back and thought I was funny. She asked about weekend shows. I said I did Winston's, and jokingly said I'm also hilarious for dinner parties. She just responded no thank you. It was kind of awkward as A. I was joking and B. She was not attractive at all. How undesirable am I that I can't even jokingly ask out an ugly chick.
Weird stuff. I realized today there are 7 shows tonight in the San Diego area. Special shows at the Beach club in Oceanside and Comedy Store. But on the regular. There's Lestats, Comedy Palace, U31, Wit's End, and Moondoggies. That's pretty crazy. I've only been to Lestat's once or twice but heard it's pretty good. Comedy Palace has been solid the last few times I've been there. As far as the last 3. Wit's End is a music and comedy show, aka, going to be rough. U-31 is mostly a black crowd, my nerdy jokes don't often work. And Moondoggies, well we've discussed that. I may check out one or two, not sure yet.
Lastly I messed up paying people last week at Winston's. I mistakingly gave one gave 50$ and another 10$. I'm glad word got back to me, cuz the dude I gave less money to desrved the money. He brough people, is funny, and a good overall dude. I awkwardly send a message to the other guy asking for a little money back. He got back to me and was understanding.
