Comedy = Poker

Although they are completely different they are a lot alike. They are both very stressful, some days you do well, others you fall flat on your face, and at the end of a bad day you say I never want to put myself through that again but you gotta keep plugging away.

I performed tonight at Brick by Brick, which is simply turning into the Tuesday Winston's. It's all comedians and theyre a tough sell. I'm starting to notice almost a fraternity between the comics. There's 2 guys that are above everyone else and all the other comics are trying to seek their approval. I used to like one of them, but he's gotten pretty full of himself. He's good and all, but there's no need to gloat about it and hope the other comics will line up to stroke your penis.

I pulled the ultimate rookie comic move by changing what I attended to do when I arrived. This is what I did my first show, and it isn't wise. I did a few jokes I've written but never really went over my notes. They bombed, and I still can't let bad jokes roll off me and put on a good show. I did mostly old stuff which is lame. Even if people laugh it's just not the same rush you get when a new joke works. I give it a C-.

I realized that people for the most part want poop jokes, and arn't really excited about the observational stuff. I am gonna keep plugging away, possibly do a show tomorrow evening. I still have Winston's Friday, and I got picked to do the Comedy Store on Sunday. Hopefully I can turn things around.

Observation of the day: If you're putting water into your shampoo container to give yourself a few more washes your life isn't going exactly the way you had hoped.
