Had one of my best sets at the Comedy Store Thursday. Did mostly jokes I've written over a year ago, maybe closer to 2 years ago. I've noticed that when I started I wrote a lot of dirty, easy jokes. Since I've progessed as a comedian I think my style has changed and I'm trying to take on stuff that takes some thought to understand. Most of the jokes I think are funny, do not hit on stage. And stuff I know is stupid always hits. So I'm probably becoming a better comedian, but my jokes arn't the same.
I was bummed at first because the crowd was small, and basically no one that said they would come, did. It bothers me as I always do pretty well, and always mix up my jokes. People are just lame. But to be fair I don't really attend other people's events, but I likely would if I was free and could. My set was really strong and I had a lot of people/ comics compliment me after. Even a table that had been talking a lot of the time, one of the woman came up to me after and said I did well.\
Friday was Winston's. There were a lot of no shows. I slammed the mic into my lower lip by accident, and actually caused it to bleed. I wasn't even drinking at the time. There was a decent amount of people but they were not easy to make laugh. I started off somewhat choppy but turned things around and was happy with how I finished. I tried one new joke that I thought would get a big reaction and didn't get much of anything. I'm going to try it a few more times to see if there's anything there.
